THE SWIFT DRAG

Southern-psychedelic rock duo The Swift Drag hails from Austin, Texas and features Will Evans (vocal, guitar) and David Jobe (drums). Dare we call The Swift Drag a dance? This dance is a bombastic, dynamically coordinated match between a pair of musicians battling playfully for sonic space. Combine Evans’ moody vocals and ear-splitting guitar riffs (layered with thick sub-octave bass tones of course) with Jobe’s thundering back beats highlighted by a gigantic 30 inch bass drum and you’ve got a recipe for ‘more than meets the eye’. Although drums and guitar are the core instruments of the band’s sound, the experience they create within the limitations of a two-piece band is expansive and packed to the gills with grit. “Making music within these limitations has become an obsession of ours. The thrill we get from hearing these ideas come to life and pull people in is the driving force behind the music we create,” says Evans.
